A leading company in engineering is seeking a Service Designer responsible for providing system design and solution expertise. You will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, ensuring technical solutions align with customer requirements. The role demands qualifications in networking and experience in regulated environments, with opportunities for travel within the UK and overseas.
As a Service Designer, your primary responsibility will be to provide system design and solution expertise within a defined area of the engineered domain. You'll be working closely with multidisciplinary teams to ensure all solutions are technically sound and aligned with customer requirements.
In your secondary role, you'll act as an Engineering Authority, offering oversight and support across the wider service team. You'll help ensure system-level performance meets design expectations and is fit for purpose.
Essential
Demonstrate suitable professional qualifications such as CCNA/CCNP/Juniper JNCIA OR provide relevant evidence of experience in designing, delivering, testing and supporting network solutions within military and/or air traffic management domains or equivalent organisations.
Desirable
Ability to work in a regulated environment, e.g., CAP 670 or Defence Standard 00-972, meeting applicable standards, or other high integrity systems. Knowledge of Microwave link and/or BLoS technologies. Provision of NOC/SOC services (working within or managing).
Support the development of the requirements baseline for new Technical Services. Develop concept designs based on requirements from external and internal customers. Support customer solution reviews and produce design documentation from bid support to contract award. Support wider service domains to develop solution proposals and recommendations. Provide technical advice and onsite support to project teams to deliver solutions. Engage with suppliers to develop end-to-end solutions. Maintain solution roadmaps to account for future obsolescence.
Participate in the Engineering Lifecycle/Acceptance and Commissioning Process. Ensure solutions are fit for purpose and support project teams in delivering solutions to customer acceptance.
Generate Engineering submissions for Change Proposals, including change description, requirements, architectural design, and plans. Assess impact of changes and ensure they are captured in the requirements baseline.
Provide guidance on assets within the Technical Service threads. Support operators and maintainers with equipment use. Manage the integration of 3rd party equipment into Technical Services.
Support safety cases, hazard analysis, and safety case reviews. Participate in safety investigations and advise on safety accountability.
Monitor asset performance data, identify trends, support obsolescence mitigation, review maintenance documentation, and assess OEM and modification proposals.
Degree in engineering or equivalent professional qualification. Experience in Air Traffic Management or similar environments. Knowledge of relevant systems. Commitment to operationally critical systems. Willingness to travel within the UK and overseas. Ability to communicate technical information effectively to non-technical audiences.
