Service & Commissioning Engineer – West Midlands based company – UK coverage – £50-55k + car allowance + 10% bonus = £65-70k+ package

Samuel Frank is recruiting a multi-skilled Service & Commissioning Engineer to cover the UK from a base in the Midlands.

Key aspects of the Service & Commissioning Engineer role include:

  • Multi-skilled Service & Commissioning Engineer to work on specialist equipment already installed on automotive plants throughout the UK
  • Previous experience of working as a travelling Service & Commissioning Engineer is an essential requirement
  • Experience of service and commissioning capital/process plant equipment
  • Any knowledge of automotive plants would be helpful, as would experience of conveyors, variable speed drives, encoders or basic PLC knowledge (downloading code, not interrogating or making changes)
  • Equipment the successful Service & Commissioning Engineer will be working on will include fluid filling machines used to fill cars on production lines with the required fluids needed for operation
  • HNC or equivalent qualification in engineering or related discipline or proven experience in automotive assembly / conveyor systems knowledge is essential
  • Because of the seasonal nature of the work, during the early and latter stages of the year the workload will be less and the successful Service & Commissioning Engineer could find themselves working 20 hours per week and in the peak periods of summer shutdowns it could be 60 hours per week. The Service Manager estimates an average of 40 hours per week over a period of 12 months
  • Some weekend working will be required – the successful Service & Commissioning Engineer will need gain access to production lines to carry out service work outside of normal operating hours – overtime paid at weekends only

Requirements for the Field Service & Commissioning Engineer role include:

  • Previous experience of working as a Field Service & Commissioning Engineer
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to build rapport with customers and colleagues
  • Flexibility to work weekends and travel for occasional large jobs
  • Willingness to participate in ongoing training to further develop your skills and knowledge
  • Eligible to work in the UK without sponsorship

Ideal places to live in include Coventry, Birmingham, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Redditch, Nuneaton, Rugby, Daventry and Northampton as well as places further away such Northampton, Leicester, Worcester, Tamworth, Redditch or Kidderminster.
