Job summary

Collins Aerospace Winnersh Service Center in Berkshire seeks a Service Center Technician to support the manufacture, testing, diagnosis, repair and ongoing service of avionics and aerospace products. You will join a small, skilled team and work to rigorous aerospace quality and safety standards.

You should bring hands-on experience in electronics or avionics, the ability to diagnose faults, and a practical, quality-focused mindset.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and perform repairs on avionics and electronic systems.
  • Assemble, test and inspect products to meet specifications.
  • Support manufacture and ongoing service of Winnersh products.
  • Conduct testing and certification per procedures and aerospace requirements.
  • Use drawings and documentation to complete work accurately.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Quality teams for investigations and improvements.
  • Maintain production and quality documentation; uphold high workmanship standards.

Our Winnersh Service Center plays an important role in supporting avionics and aerospace systems used across commercial, business and defence aviation. We are now looking for a Service Center Technician to join our experienced team and help manufacture, test, diagnose, repair and support our Winnersh-based products. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with a practical technical background who enjoys understanding how things work, solving problems and developing their skills within a highly regulated, quality-focused aerospace environment.

What you will do

Working as part of a small, experienced and collaborative team, you will support the manufacture, maintenance and repair of avionics and aerospace products. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs on avionics and electronic systems and components.
  • Assembling, testing and inspecting products and repaired components to ensure they meet required specifications.
  • Supporting the manufacture and ongoing service of Winnersh-based products.
  • Carrying out testing and certification activities in accordance with approved procedures and aerospace requirements.
  • Using technical drawings, specifications, work instructions and test documentation to complete work accurately.
  • Identifying product issues and working closely with Engineering, Quality and other teams to support investigation and continuous improvement.
  • Supporting parts, repair, exchange and consignment processes where required.
  • Accurately completing relevant technical, quality and production documentation.
  • Maintaining high standards of workmanship, organisation and attention to detail.
  • Working at all times in accordance with Collins Aerospace quality, safety and regulatory requirements.
What we are looking for

We are interested in people who combine practical technical ability with curiosity and a strong approach to quality. You may already have experience within aerospace or avionics, or you may have developed transferable technical skills within electronics, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance, repair or another highly regulated environment.

  • Hands-on experience within electronics, avionics, engineering, manufacturing, maintenance or repair.
  • The ability to diagnose faults and work methodically through technical problems.
  • Experience assembling, testing, repairing or maintaining electronic or electromechanical equipment.
  • The ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications and work instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail and an understanding of the importance of quality and traceability.
  • A safety-conscious and quality-focused approach to your work.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively within a small team and across different functions.
  • A willingness to learn, develop new technical skills and share knowledge with colleagues.
  • Previous aerospace or avionics experience would be advantageous, but equally important is your technical aptitude, problem-solving ability and commitment to producing high-quality work.
