Job description

CRA Consulting is partnering with a highly regarded claimant law firm to recruit a Serious Injury Solicitor or Chartered Legal Executive into its specialist Personal Injury department. This is a particularly good opportunity for an experienced litigator who wants to focus on complex, high-value injury work and play an important role in supporting clients through what can often be life-changing circumstances.

You’ll join an established team handling a quality caseload of serious injury matters, with the autonomy to run your own files and the opportunity to work alongside a network of medical experts, rehabilitation specialists and counsel. There is also scope to support and mentor more junior members of the team, sharing your technical knowledge and contributing to the wider department.

What will you be doing?

The caseload will consist predominantly of multi-track Road Traffic Accident claims, with most matters valued between £50,000 and £150,000. Depending on your experience, you’ll also have exposure to higher-value and catastrophic injury work.

You’ll be involved throughout the lifecycle of each claim, from initial instruction and investigation through to settlement or trial.

Your work will include:
  • Running a caseload of complex claimant serious injury claims
  • Handling predominantly multi-track RTA litigation
  • Assessing liability, causation and quantum and developing appropriate case strategies
  • Building strong relationships with clients and providing clear, empathetic advice
  • Conducting client meetings, including face-to-face appointments where required
  • Identifying rehabilitation, care and ongoing support needs
  • Securing interim payments where appropriate
  • Instructing and liaising with medical experts, rehabilitation providers, care experts, case managers and forensic accountants
  • Working closely with counsel and other external specialists
  • Drafting and reviewing pleadings, witness statements and schedules of loss
  • Valuing claims and negotiating settlements
  • Preparing cases for hearings and trial
  • Ensuring files are managed effectively and meet regulatory requirements

There will also be an opportunity to get involved in mentoring and supporting junior colleagues, as well as developing professional relationships within the serious injury sector.

What experience will you need?

The firm is looking for someone with a strong claimant Personal Injury background and demonstrable experience handling serious and complex injury litigation.

Ideally, you’ll have:
  • A substantial background in claimant serious injury work
  • Strong experience handling multi-track RTA claims
  • Excellent knowledge of Personal Injury law and the Civil Procedure Rules
  • A sound understanding of liability, causation and quantum
  • Experience managing complex medical evidence and expert reports
  • Strong drafting, analytical and negotiation skills
  • The ability to build rapport with clients and external professionalsConfidence managing your own caseload and working independently
  • Excellent organisation and attention to detail
  • Experience mentoring, supervising or supporting junior team members

Applications are welcomed from qualified Solicitors, Chartered Legal Executives and experienced Serious Injury Fee Earners with the relevant technical experience. Involvement with professional organisations such as APIL, Headway or the Spinal Injuries Association would be an advantage, although this isn’t essential.

The opportunity and benefits

You’ll be joining a specialist claimant team with a strong reputation, where the quality of work and client service are both important priorities.

The package includes:
  • Competitive salary and benefits
  • Hybrid and flexible working
  • A technically challenging caseload of serious injury claims
  • Exposure to higher-value and catastrophic injury matters
  • A supportive and collaborative team
  • Opportunities to mentor and develop junior colleagues
  • Continued professional development
  • Long-term career progression opportunities
Why make the move?

For someone who enjoys the complexities of serious injury litigation, this is an opportunity to take on meaningful work, develop their expertise and make a genuine difference to clients and their families. You’ll have the opportunity to take ownership of your caseload while contributing to an established department, with the scope to become involved in its continued development.
