Job description

Overview

We are in the final stages of a complete rebuild for a WordPress website we initially created four years ago. The current site has performed strongly, achieving high engagement and SEO success. The new website will replace the existing one and will feature an updated sitemap and refreshed page structure to reflect the client’s evolving needs.

The new site will be built using the Avada theme on the Wordpress platform on Siteground server and will consist of approximately 12 pages. The primary goal is to ensure a smooth migration process, retaining SEO equity while optimising the site for improved performance and search visibility.

We are looking for an experienced SEO professional to assist with the migration of the existing website to the new platform. The role will involve ensuring that all SEO elements are optimised and transitioned effectively, minimising disruption to search rankings and maximising performance.

Key Responsibilities
  • SEO Strategy and Optimisation
    Carry over existing keywords and incorporate them into new pages.
    Optimise and write meta descriptions tailored to the new pages.
    Review and improve page headers (H1, H2, etc.) for SEO and readability.
    Optimise URLs for clarity, relevance, and SEO impact.
  • Content and Media Optimisation
    Optimise image names.
    Review and adjust image sizes to enhance load speeds while maintaining visual quality.
    Ensure all images include relevant alt text for accessibility and SEO benefits.
  • Technical SEO
    Optimise HTAGs for a clear hierarchy and search relevance.
    Ensure fast page load speeds using best practices, such as compression and caching.
    Create and submit a new XML sitemap to Google Search Console.
    Configure and optimise the YOAST SEO plugin to align with the new site structure.
  • Migration Management
    Develop and implement a redirect strategy to ensure all old pages are properly redirected (e.g., 301 redirects) and maintain link equity.
    Test redirects to avoid 404 errors and ensure user experience continuity.
    Audit and update internal links across the website to reflect the new structure.
  • Analytics and Reporting
    Ensure Google Analytics is correctly configured and tracking data accurately.
    Verify integration with Google Search Console and address any crawl errors or warnings post-launch.
  • Post-Launch Testing and Monitoring
    Conduct a comprehensive SEO audit post-launch to identify and resolve any issues.
    Monitor traffic, rankings, and site performance during and after the migration to ensure minimal disruption.
Deliverables
  • Updated keyword, meta description, and header recommendations.

  • A redirect mapping document for old to new URLs.

  • A fully optimised and submitted XML sitemap.

  • A performance report post-launch, including key metrics, observations, and recommended follow-up actions.

Timeline

The website is scheduled to launch in by the end of Dec 2024. The SEO professional will need to collaborate with our team in the weeks leading up to and following the launch to ensure a successful migration and optimisation process.
