Connecting people to their family stories is special. We're proud to deliver these magic moments. Through technology, data and insights, we bring people closer to their past, to benefit their future.

We’re a fast-growing team of motivated individuals, and we’re passionate about delivering our product. We dedicate our time to solving meaningful, complex problems, and at Findmypast you can be a part of this magic.

Role Overview:

Findmypast (part of DC Thomson) is seeking a data-driven SEO Content Strategist to join our Acquisition Family on a 12-month fixed-term contract and play a pivotal role in growing our organic search visibility, site traffic, and conversions. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing SEO-driven content strategies that attract, engage, and convert users interested in genealogy and ancestry research. A significant focus will be on optimising commercial landing pages and creating a cohesive content strategy that aligns with both organic search goals and broader business objectives. This role requires a blend of SEO expertise, content strategy skills, and a keen understanding of user intent.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify content gaps and opportunities, ensuring content aligns with user needs, search trends, and business objectives
  • Successful candidates will have experience in using SEO research tools (e.g., Semrush)
  • Develop an SEO-driven content creation and optimisation plan with a balanced focus on high-converting commercial landing pages and engaging, educational content
  • Define the content strategy for landing pages to improve rankings, drive traffic, and maximise conversions, coordinating closely with product and content teams
  • Produce high-quality, SEO-optimised content across landing pages, guides, blogs and other formats
  • Craft commercial landing pages that are optimised for conversions, blending best SEO practices with compelling calls-to-action and user-focused copy
  • Be comfortable creating pages within a modular CMS

Performance Analysis & Reporting

  • Track and analyse key SEO and content metrics, including organic traffic, keyword rankings, conversion rates, and engagement metrics on commercial pages
  • Adjust strategy based on performance to continuously improve outcomes

Requirements

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Demonstrable/proven experience in SEO, digital marketing, or content strategy, ideally with a focus on both organic search optimisation and commercial content development
  • Proven experience in creating and optimising commercial landing pages with a focus on driving conversions
  • Strong understanding of SEO principles, including on-page optimisation, technical SEO, and link-building
  • Proficiency with SEO and analytics tools (e.g., Google Analytics, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality
  • Experience collaborating cross-functionally, particularly with content, product, design, and technical teams
  • Passion for genealogy, history, and creating content that meets both search intent and business objectives
  • Be comfortable crafting compelling copy - from "How to" articles to sales pages

Why join our team?

You won’t find any bureaucracy here, but you will find:

  • A generous holiday allowance with the chance to buy more
  • A pension contribution that stands out in the market (9.5% matched company contribution with a 6% contribution from the employee's side)
  • All the health and wellbeing benefits you’d expect and some you wouldn’t
  • The chance to work with smart and fun people on products that will bring joy to millions
