Job summary

Hertfordshire County Council – Hertfordshire Services for Young People is seeking a Senior Youth Worker to support vulnerable young people aged 11–17 (up to 25 for Care Leavers and SEND). You will deliver targeted youth work, help re-engage learners missing education, and assist those with SEND to access positive futures.

You will lead practice across the North Herts team, supervise staff, and contribute to training.

Qualifications

• A nationally recognised JNC youth work qualification.
• Substantial experience working with young people aged 11–17.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills and the ability to work flexibly and at pace.
• Ability to work 37 hours per week, including regular evenings, some weekends, and school holidays.
• Confidence using ICT systems including recording data.
• Experience of line / performance management of staff.
• A full UK driving licence and daily access to a vehicle.

Responsibilities

• Deliver targeted youth work, including evening group projects
• Support young people missing from education to successfully re-engage
• Work with young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities
• Lead youth work practice across the North Herts team
• Support training and development across the area team and Service
