Job summary

Taylor Hobson, part of AMETEK, in the United Kingdom, is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to design, develop, and maintain desktop applications and backend services using WPF, C#, .NET Core, following MVVM.

You will write clean, tested code, review peers, mentor juniors, modernize legacy systems, and document APIs and design notes. You will collaborate with global teams and explore AI tooling to improve productivity.

Qualifications

• Good Degree Level education (2:1 or higher) in Software Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent with at least 7 years’ experience in a software engineering role within the .Net ecosystem.
• Coachable with potential for Principal Software Engineer within 5 years

Responsibilities

• Design, development and maintaining of desktop applications and backend services using WPF, C#, .NET Core, following MVVM and other established design patterns.
• Writing clean, testable code following SOLID principles and best practices.
• Participating in code reviews, technical discussions and mentoring of junior developers.
• Working with legacy code where needed and contributing to ongoing modernisation efforts.
• Preparing and maintaining technical documentation, including API documentation, design notes, samples, and user manuals.
• Identifying, proposing, and adopting emerging technologies and tools to enhance product quality and engineering processes.
• Collaborating closely with engineering and non engineering teams across India and other global AMETEK locations.
• Demonstrated ability and willingness to use AI tools to improve productivity, decision-marking, work quality, and to reduce costs. The successful candidate must be able to identify appropriate AI use cases and critically evaluate AI-generated outputs.
