  • Design and implement custom endpoints for the WordPress REST API
  • Create efficient and scalable backend solutions for decoupled WordPress architectures
  • Ensure high performance and security of the headless WordPress setup
  • Collaborate with frontend developers to integrate into various consumers
  • Write and maintain documentation on endpoints and architecture
  • Implement authentication methods such as JWT for secure API communication
  • Optimize data exchange between the WordPress backend and frontend applications

You'll report directly to the CTO and be part of a focused team of around 5, including engineers, a dedicated PM, QA and data resources.

Required Skills:

  • Strong proficiency in PHP and WordPress development
  • Experience with WordPress REST API and custom endpoint creation
  • Solid understanding of RESTful API principles and best practices
  • Familiarity with headless CMS architectures and decoupled WordPress setups
  • Knowledge of modern frontend technologies (e.g., React) for integration purposes
  • Proficiency in version control systems, particularly Git
  • Experience with database management, particularly MySQL or MariaDB

Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker
  • Experience with performance optimization and caching strategies for WordPress
  • Knowledge of security best practices for WordPress and API development
