A leading insurance company seeks a qualified solicitor to manage and develop insurance documentation and commercial agreements. This role involves drafting policy wordings, maintaining compliance, and developing relationships with stakeholders. Candidates must have a background in underwriting or legal environments and strong communication skills.
Wordings & Product: • Responsible for the design, technical content, and final production of insurance documentation including Policy Wordings, Evidence of Cover documents, Certificates of Insurance and Reinsurance, IPID’s, Proposal Forms, and Promotional/Marketing brochures.
• Draft or approve documentation across the full range of products underwritten by W/R/B.
• Provide advice and support to underwriters on all Wordings related matters, operating in line with WRB’s Wordings Protocols.
• Maintain a library of wordings for use by underwriters.
• Act as a member of WRB’s Product Oversight Group, providing wordings advice and support on SME Products.
• Develop and maintain clear and simple wordings for WRB’s SME customers.
• Develop good relationships with underwriters, brokers, coverholders, and internal stakeholders.
• Communicate market and regulatory guidance regarding policy wordings/exclusionary language to internal stakeholders.
• Support compliance, delegated authority, and underwriting management functions in drafting insurance-specific agreements and documents, such as binding authority agreements.
• Conduct training for staff as required.
Commercial: • Review and negotiate commercial agreements.
• Maintain a UK ‘playbook’ to establish standard requirements for commercial agreements.
• Develop relationships with selected corporate and commercial counsel to streamline the review process.
• England & Wales qualified practising solicitor (or equivalent).
• Proven experience in an Underwriting, Broking, or law firm environment.
• Experience with commercial and SME insurances across different lines of business.
• Knowledge of regulatory product governance requirements related to insurance product setup, policy wordings, and documentation.
• Professionalism with dedication to customer service and outcomes.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to contribute constructively to product specification and design.
• Good administrative and time management skills.
• Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
