Job Description:

Our world-leading Time & Frequency department is seeking an experienced and practicing Windows Platform Engineer.

You will be joining our team at an exciting time - we maintain the UK’s National Time Scale, UTC (NPL), and are currently developing a new resilient Time Scale facility that will underpin our Critical National Infrastructure. This initiative aims to address the risks associated with our dependency on global navigation satellite systems (such as GPS) that are vulnerable to both natural and intentional interference.

As a Platform Engineer, you’ll collaborate with prominent Scientists and Engineers to develop and implement innovative, production-ready software and automation to enhance time, quality, and cost efficiency.

Key responsibilities:
  1. Manage on-premises and cloud-based compute and storage infrastructure.
  2. Automate provisioning and configuration management.
  3. Provide team leadership.
  4. Conduct risk assessment and management.
  5. Maintain a security-focused mindset.
