Job description

Senior Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer

Are you an experienced engineer with a passion for high-performance aerodynamics? My client is looking for a Senior Wind Tunnel Operations Engineer to join their cutting-edge Wind Tunnel Operations team.

In this role, you will be at the forefront of Formula 1 aerodynamic testing, ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of their state-of-the-art wind tunnel facility. You will play a key part in providing technical support and first-line operational assistance, keeping the tunnel running at peak performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct routine checks, calibration, and maintenance of Wind Tunnel model instrumentation before, during, and after testing.
  2. Assemble, operate, and maintain bench test rigs for system verification.
  3. Work on R&D test and calibration rigs, ensuring precise operation and reliability.
  4. Diagnose, repair, and install electrical & electronic systems within the Wind Tunnel.
  5. Record and document experimental methods, configurations, and test data.
  6. Track tunnel metrics to monitor health and efficiency.
  7. Assist with stock control and spares inventory management.
  8. Provide technical support for PIV systems and data analysis teams.

What We're Looking For:
  1. Extensive experience in a Formula 1 Wind Tunnel environment.
  2. Strong background in aerodynamic testing and Wind Tunnel systems.
  3. Expertise in Electrical or Electronic Engineering, including test and measurement equipment calibration.
  4. Experience with wiring harnesses, electronic components, and data acquisition software is a significant advantage.
  5. Excellent problem-solving, communication, and technical skills across heavy plant & sensitive instrumentation.
  6. Strong ability to work under pressure, follow detailed technical instructions, and maintain meticulous records.
  7. Flexible approach to shift work and occasional weekend work.
