Senior Web Developer

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne with hybrid working (2 days in the office per week)

Salary: circa £50,000 p.a., negotiable based on skills and experience, plus benefits including health cash plan

Description: We are seeking a Senior Web Developer to join the Digital Development Team at Home Group. You will be the internal technical expert, guiding and mentoring others, leading technical decisions, and shaping our development practices. Your work will focus on building accessible, high-performing digital solutions using React, NodeJS, and TypeScript, and supporting the team in agile environments.

Responsibilities:

  • Build digital solutions with React, NodeJS, and TypeScript
  • Lead technical decisions and contribute to coding standards
  • Mentor junior developers and support their growth
  • Participate in agile ceremonies and improve planning and delivery
  • Investigate and resolve live issues to ensure service reliability and security
  • Collaborate with designers, testers, and product owners to develop user-friendly tools

Qualifications:

  • Proven full stack development experience with NodeJS, React, and TypeScript
  • Strong knowledge of Azure cloud infrastructure and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience with SQL, NoSQL, GraphQL, and scalable data structures
  • Ability to guide technical decisions and mentor others
  • Effective communicator in agile environments
  • Interest in clean, test-driven code and modern tools like NestJS and NextJS

Additional Information:

  • Work hours: Monday to Friday, 7.5 hours per day
  • Flexible diary management and flexi-time
  • Hybrid role: 2 days in Newcastle upon Tyne offices, rest from home
