Job summary

Mott MacDonald invites applications for a senior role in our Water Consultancy Division, focused on project management across water sector projects in the UK. You will lead multidisciplinary teams, manage time, cost, and quality, and maintain strong client interfaces to ensure successful project outcomes.

The role requires chartered status, a degree in engineering, and proven experience delivering infrastructure projects within water.

Qualifications

• Degree-qualified in engineering or a related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer and membership of a relevant institution (e.g. ICE, IMechE).
• Demonstrable project management experience delivering infrastructure projects, ideally in the water sector.
• Experience managing multidisciplinary teams across project lifecycle stages.
• Strong client-facing and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to manage programme, cost, and engineering risks to achieve successful project outcomes.
• Proven ability to work independently and contribute to project success while guiding others.
• Excellent communication skills, including writing reports and presenting.
• Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with clients, stakeholders and colleagues.
• Understanding of the importance of prioritising health, safety, and environmental issues.
• Strong IT and digital capability.
• Solid commercial acumen and experience of project planning and controls.

Responsibilities

• Manage multi-disciplinary water projects across the full project lifecycle.
• Lead the delivery of projects to time, cost, and quality, ensuring compliance with business management systems.
• Manage multidisciplinary teams, coordinating technical specialists across design and delivery stages.
• Act as a key client interface, building strong and trusted relationships.
• Identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and opportunities.
• Oversee commercial and contractual aspects including forecasting, programme control, and reporting.
• Support team development, providing guidance and mentoring to junior staff.
