Job description

We are currently in the market to recruit multiple Senior Wastewater (Hydraulic) Modellers for various long-term frameworks across the UK.

RPS, in collaboration with Tetra Tech, has secured a £100 million single-award framework from United Utilities to improve river health in Northwest England, supporting long-term water industry programs.

With over 20 years of partnership with United Utilities, RPS offers an exciting opportunity to work on innovative projects in the water sector, especially as we approach AMP8. Our goal is to deliver exceptional water services, fostering resilience and sustainability in the Northwest.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy services to water industry clients, supporting their business planning and delivery. We value innovation, dedication, and teamwork to meet evolving industry challenges.

Our portfolio includes several major water companies across the UK, with long-term framework agreements, ensuring career stability and growth into AMP9 and beyond.

About You:

The ideal candidate has experience with urban drainage projects and proficiency in InfoWorks ICM and GIS software. You should demonstrate strong teamwork skills, leadership potential, and a commitment to client service, with opportunities to mentor and guide other modelling personnel.

Your Responsibilities:

  1. Develop and deliver wastewater catchment strategies, hydraulic modelling, and analysis within project scope, time, and budget.
  2. Assess solution feasibility and engineering buildability factors.
  3. Continuously improve tools, procedures, and processes for efficiency and innovation.
  4. Ensure quality outputs and compliance with standards and governance.
  5. Travel to client sites or other offices as needed.
  6. Lead and manage project teams, fostering strong client relationships.
  7. Provide technical direction, support staff performance, and support career development.
  8. Collaborate with wider RPS/Tetra Tech disciplines.

Skills, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and water regulation.
  • Experience managing projects or supporting project managers.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Expertise in InfoWorks ICM, ICM Exchange, GIS systems, and familiarity with FME, Optimatics, Python is advantageous.

Qualifications:

  • Degree in a relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications preferred.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership; membership with professional institutions such as IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
