Job description

We are currently in the market to recruit multiple Senior Wastewater (Hydraulic) Modellers for various major long-term frameworks across the UK.

About The Role:

In addition to a range of long-term programmes across the UK water industry, RPS and Tetra Tech have successfully secured a £100 million single-award framework from United Utilities to support river health improvements in Northwest England.

RPS has over 20 years of collaboration with United Utilities on innovative projects. As we approach AMP8, this is an exciting time to work in the water sector, with opportunities to create positive change through passionate collaboration.

Within this 10-year framework, RPS aims to optimize programs, develop solutions, and select the best options based on value, low carbon footprint, and cost, with the goal of delivering exceptional water services and fostering a resilient, eco-friendly Northwest.

About The Team:

RPS Water Consulting comprises Engineers, Modellers, and Data Analysts providing Asset Management and Operational Strategy to our water industry clients, supporting business planning and delivery. This evolving industry offers challenges and opportunities that require innovation, dedication, and teamwork.

We also work with several major water companies across the UK, managing a broad portfolio of long-term frameworks.

Candidate Profile:

Ideal candidates will have experience with urban drainage projects and proficiency in InfoWorks ICM and GIS software. Strong teamwork skills, leadership potential, and the ability to mentor other modelling personnel are essential, along with a focus on client service.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and deliver wastewater catchment strategies, including hydraulic modelling, analysis, and studies, within budget and quality standards.
  2. Assess solution feasibility and engineering buildability factors.
  3. Improve tools, procedures, and processes for efficiency and innovation.
  4. Ensure quality and compliance of outputs.
  5. Travel to client sites or offices as needed.
  6. Lead and manage project teams, fostering strong client relationships.
  7. Manage project team members, providing technical support, motivation, and career development guidance.
  8. Collaborate with other disciplines within RPS/Tetra Tech.
Skills and Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation and water regulation.
  • Experience managing projects of various sizes.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Expertise in InfoWorks ICM and ICM Exchange.
  • Deep knowledge of hydraulic modelling and wastewater infrastructure.
  • Proficiency in MS 365, Excel, PowerBI, SharePoint.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems (MapInfo, ArcGIS, QGIS).
  • Experience with FME, Optimatics, Python is advantageous.
Qualifications:
  • Degree in a relevant technical field; postgraduate qualifications are a plus.
  • Chartered or working towards chartership.
  • Membership or nearing application with a professional body like IET, InstMC, or CIWEM.
