Are you an experienced waste assessor with a good knowledge of WM3 waste classification? If so, this could be your next step.
A leading waste treatment company is looking for a Senior Waste Assessor to assess and classify waste materials—including contaminated soils and liquids—for acceptance into treatment facilities or off-site disposal. You’ll be a key technical link between the laboratory, customers, sales teams, and treatment sites—offering expert guidance and ensuring full compliance every step of the way.
This is a varied and hands-on role that includes both office-based assessments and site visits to collect and interpret environmental data.
What you'll be doing?
• Assess and classify waste materials (e.g., soils, ballast, liquids) using lab data and WM3 guidance
• Review analytical reports and determine appropriate EWC codes and hazardous/non-hazardous status
• Ensure compliance with Environmental Permit (EPR) conditions and Waste Acceptance Criteria (WAC)
• Contribute to maintaining safety, environmental responsibility, and regulatory compliance across all activities
What you’ll need:
• A degree in Chemistry (or related subject)
• At least 2 years’ experience in waste classification and assessment, particularly for solid waste
• Strong understanding of WM3 and hazardous waste regulations
• Willingness to travel – full UK driving license required
