Location of the Job:

West Sussex.

Salary and Benefits Package:

Paying up to £27,000 basic salary plus overtime / penalty rates during peak periods.

25 days holiday.

This is a permanent full-time position.

Working hours are typically: Monday - Thursday 8 am to 4:30 pm, Friday: 8 am - 3:30 pm.

The Job Role Details:

As Senior Vineyard Worker, you will provide guidance and leadership as a senior member of the vineyard team under the direction of the Vineyard Supervisor. You will work closely with the team to ensure daily tasks are completed according to specifications, providing ongoing training and mentoring to team members.

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure all work is carried out as per Supervisor or Management instructions and provide training and guidance to team members.

Works include:

• Management of vines - leaf trimming, shoot thinning, yield manipulation, pruning.
• Spray applications - record keeping.
• Trellis maintenance - including vineyard establishment.
• Ground management - weed control, mowing, soil cultivation.
• Machinery maintenance.

Additional Duties:

• Supervise agency or staff maintaining a professional and approachable attitude.
• Assist with record keeping as requested.
• Provide cover for the Vineyard Supervisor during holidays or sickness and communicate updates to the Vineyard Manager/Viticulturist.
• Ensure staff follow procedures and provide guidance/training as needed.
• Report issues affecting vineyard operations.
• Strive for improvements in quality, efficiency, cost, and professionalism.
• Provide ongoing training and assistance across vineyard sites.
• Assist with other farm activities as required.

Ideal Person Skills & Qualifications:

• Experience in vineyard or farm work, including fruit, arable, dairy, or pig farming.
• Experience operating tractors and farm equipment.
• Excellent team-player.
• Good English literacy and numeracy skills.
• Ability to follow instructions and work orders.
• Valid driving license and access to a vehicle during work hours.
• Willingness to supervise and work with agency staff.
