UTA seeks a Senior Vice President of Applied Science and EMEA Technology. This London-based executive will report to the UTA Chief Technology Officer in Los Angeles and will be responsible for defining and executing UTA's AI technology and overall technical strategy for the EMEA region. This pragmatic leader will foster collaborative, high-performing technology teams, balancing innovation with practical needs. Deeply experienced in technology leadership, digital infrastructure, AI, and technological innovation, this SVP will have a proven track record as a collaborative and highly regarded leader. They will leverage their passion for technology to spearhead cross-functional partnerships with businesses and technical teams.

This role requires an experienced executive with strong business acumen, excellent judgment, true collaboration, principled leadership, and a customer-centric approach to decision-making, thriving in a dynamic, fast-paced, and often ambiguous environment.

What You Will Do

Applied Science and AI Leadership

  • AI Strategy Development: Work with UTA’s Data and AI product leadership to develop and implement a strategic plan for AI and applied science that aligns with the company's goals and objectives, identifying AI projects and initiatives for the entire company.

  • Research and Innovation: Lead research and development efforts in applied science and AI, fostering innovation and staying ahead of industry trends.

  • AI Integration: Oversee the integration of AI technologies into the company's products and services, ensuring they enhance functionality and user experience.

  • Data Management: Ensure effective data management practices, including data collection, storage, and analysis, to support AI initiatives.

  • Ethical AI Practices: Establish and enforce ethical guidelines for AI development and deployment, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.

  • Talent Development: Mentor and develop a team of scientists and AI professionals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement.

Technology Vision, Strategy, and Delivery

  • Strategic Planning: Collaborate with UTA’s CTO to develop and implement a strategic plan for technology that aligns with the company's goals and objectives, identifying technology projects and initiatives for the EMEA region.

  • Project Oversight: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of technology projects within EMEA, ensuring they meet quality, budget, and timeline requirements.

  • Technology Architecture: Define and oversee the design and implementation of the company's technology architecture for EMEA, ensuring scalability, reliability, and performance.

  • Infrastructure Stability: Ensure the stability and efficiency of the company's technical infrastructure within EMEA, including servers, databases, and networks. Evaluate and select appropriate technologies, tools, and frameworks to support the company's technological needs in the region.

  • Disaster Recovery: Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans for EMEA to ensure rapid recovery from potential disruptions.

  • Monitoring Systems: Establish monitoring and reporting systems for EMEA infrastructure to proactively identify and address issues.

Team Leadership and Development

  • Leadership: Lead technology teams across multiple locations within EMEA, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.

  • Performance Reviews: Conduct regular performance reviews in collaboration with functional business executives, providing feedback and development opportunities for team members within the EMEA technology organization.

  • Innovation and Creativity: Foster a learning mindset geared toward innovation and creativity for applying technology capabilities in new ways within the EMEA context.

  • Technical Excellence: Leverage expertise in databases, data management, ETL, user-facing products, search, and machine learning to drive technical excellence within EMEA technology teams.

Operational Excellence and Scaling

  • Processes and Best Practices: Develop and implement processes and best practices to enhance efficiency and quality in technology operations within the EMEA region.

  • Agile Methodologies: Work closely with Product teams to integrate agile methodologies into technology processes within EMEA.

  • Alignment: Ensure alignment between EMEA technology and product management teams to drive successful project outcomes in the region.

  • Stakeholder Management: Manage stakeholder expectations through clear and transparent communications regarding EMEA technology initiatives.

Collaboration, Innovation, and Advisory

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other teams and departments, both within EMEA and globally, to ensure alignment and successful project outcomes.

  • Engagement: Collaborate with other leaders and staff, creating an engaging, inclusive, and motivating work environment across EMEA.

  • Continuous Improvement: Drive innovation and continuous improvement within the EMEA technology team, staying abreast of industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to the region.

  • Strategic Insight: Help UTA “see around corners” within the EMEA landscape by staying current with industry trends to help UTA navigate technology advances and apply innovative approaches to technology projects in the region.

  • Global Collaboration: Collaborate with other senior leaders globally to ensure cohesive execution of technology initiatives impacting EMEA.

  • Effective Communication: Facilitate effective communication and alignment between EMEA technology and other business units.

What You Will Need

  • PHD in Machine Learning: Advanced academic qualifications in machine learning or related fields.

  • 15+ Years of Experience: Extensive hands-on corporate experience delivering results, with a track record of patents and publications in top-tier conferences (CVPR, ICML, NeurIPS, etc.).

  • Technology Leadership: 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with experience leading teams across multiple geographic locations within EMEA.

  • Digital Products and Platforms: 10+ years of planning, designing, developing, and delivering consumer-facing digital products and platforms.

  • Agile Environment: Experience managing multiple concurrent programs, projects, and development teams in an Agile environment.

  • Enterprise Architecture: Experience with enterprise architecture frameworks and principles.

  • Technical Acumen: Strong technical acumen across various domains including databases, data management, ETL, user-facing products, search, and machine learning.

  • Team Management: Experience managing other leaders and IT professional staff, creating an engaging, inclusive, and motivating work environment across diverse teams.

  • Product Management: Working knowledge of, and experience with, product management and agile methodologies.

  • Stakeholder Management: Expertise in relationship management and an exemplary ability to manage stakeholder expectations through clear and transparent communications, particularly across different time zones and cultures.

  • Innovation Mindset: Learning mindset geared toward innovation and creativity for applying technology capabilities in new ways, necessary for both the delivery of effective technology and business solutions within the EMEA context.
