Job summary

BNY is seeking a Senior Vice President for Senior Software Engineering on the Developer Experience team in London. You will lead a Build Engineering organization, setting technical direction and mentoring engineers to scale a central build automation platform.

You will partner with product, SRE, security and application teams to drive secure software supply‑chain practices, observability, and AI‑assisted optimization while tracking key metrics like build success rate and duration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in computer science or related field.
• Expert-level competency in Java, Go, JavaScript or Python.
• Experience with modern build automation and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab, Jenkins, Bazel, Gradle, Maven).
• Strong technical leadership with ability to set architectural direction across teams.
• Experience delivering large-scale developer platforms in enterprise environments.
• Excellent collaboration and communication with engineers, architects, and executives.

• Drive observability and resilience by integrating telemetry, analytics, and automated remediation into build systems to proactively identify and resolve bottlenecks and failures.
• Champion secure software supply‑chain practices, artifact management standards, and consistent build strategies across the enterprise.
• Partner closely with Product Management, SRE, Security, and application engineering teams to ensure alignment with developer needs and organizational priorities.
• Foster innovation by evaluating and adopting emerging technologies, including AI‑assisted build optimization and intelligent failure diagnosis.
• Define and track key metrics such as build success rate, duration, cost efficiency, adoption rates, and developer satisfaction to continuously improve the platform.

• Expert‑level competency in one or more modern programming languages (Java, Go, JavaScript, Python).
• Proven expertise with modern build automation and CI/CD tools (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI/CD, Jenkins, Bazel, Gradle, Maven).
• Strong technical leadership skills with the ability to set architectural direction and drive complex initiatives across teams.
• Experience delivering large‑scale, mission‑critical developer platforms in an enterprise or high‑scale environment.
• Excellent collaboration and communication skills, able to engage effectively with engineers, architects, and executives.

Preferred Qualifications

• Background in Developer Experience (DevEx), Platform Engineering, or Build/Release Engineering.
• Experience with artifact repositories (Artifactory, Nexus) and secure software supply‑chain practices.
• Knowledge of observability systems, telemetry frameworks, and performance optimization for build pipelines.
• Exposure to AI/ML‑driven build acceleration and failure prediction tooling.
• Prior hands‑on software development experience building customer‑facing features.
