Job summary

BNY in Manchester seeks a Full Stack Engineer to drive end-to-end delivery of secure, scalable software for a global financial services firm.

You will lead agile teams, craft architectures using Java Spring, Groovy/Spock, and Angular, and collaborate with product and business stakeholders to deliver value while reducing risk.

Qualifications

• Proven leadership of software engineering teams building distributed systems and microservices in agile environments.
• Deep Java experience (Spring) and scalable, observable systems design; strong API design.
• Strong DevOps practices: CI/CD with GitLab, automated testing (JUnit/Spock), code reviews, telemetry/observability (Splunk, AppDynamics), containers (Docker), and cloud.
• Hands-on AI development using modern tools and integrating AI into product workflows.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence; ability to simplify complexity and drive improvement.
• Corporate Actions domain experience is strongly preferred.
• Groovy/Spock and JavaScript/TypeScript with Angular for full-stack contexts preferred.
• Financial services background with risk and controls in regulated environments preferred.

• Own end-to-end delivery for critical software: requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, observability, and reliability.
• Raise engineering excellence and resilience: best practices and automation across code, testing, microservices/APIs, performance, and infrastructure; secure‑by‑design with threat modeling, logging/monitoring, incident playbooks, and disaster recovery.
• Partner with product, design, and operations to translate outcomes into measurable technical plans; guide architecture modernization, integrations, cloud/container adoption, and technical debt remediation.
• Represent engineering in program reviews and governance forums; ensure compliance, risk management, and operational excellence—aligned to BNY’s principles and strategic pillars.

BNY is seeking a Vice President, Software Engineering to lead high-impact teams. This role encompasses end-to-end delivery ownership, elevating engineering standards, nurturing talent, and collaborating closely with product and business stakeholders. The aim is to create secure, resilient, and scalable systems. • Deep Java experience (Spring), architectural patterns for scalable, observable, testable systems; strong API design.
• Strong DevOps practices: CI/CD (e.g., GitLab), automated testing (JUnit/Spock), code reviews, telemetry/observability (Splunk, AppDynamics), containers (Docker), and cloud.
• Hands‑on AI development using modern tools and IDEs (e.g., Windsurf) and experience integrating AI into product workflows.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder influence; ability to simplify complexity, make evidence‑based decisions and drive continuous improvement.
• Corporate Actions domain experience is strongly preferred.
• Groovy/Spock and JavaScript/TypeScript with Angular for full‑stack contexts preferred
• Financial services background with risk and controls in regulated environments preferred
