Senior Vice President and Head of Commercial
The Chief Commercial Officer will be responsible for developing and executing the commercial strategy for Mastek (UK) Ltd across its diverse portfolio of clients in both the public and private sectors. This role will play a vital part in launching a new commercial strategy for Mastek that supercharges its Public Sector Persona, and supports its commercial business objectives and overall strategic objectives across its customers. The CCO will add an ever-increasing value to our organisation, being responsible for also bringing new strategies of new offerings and capabilities from launching to onboarding new offerings into the market.
The CCO will be responsible for establishing strategic partnerships with public sector policy makers i.e. Departments and Crown Commercial Service, and wider market companies to deliver our obligations co-develop new products. Additionally, the CCO will develop internal contract management, assurance, risk management and compliance processes in relation to all pre and post contract and tenders and will oversee new tenders as well as develop with account leads post contract management and customers after care commercial operations.

Skills that we are looking for
- Practitioner understanding in Government procurement policies and approaches in Contract Management including procurement policies and acts (e.g. Procurement Act 2024);
- Have industry experience or as a Civil Service Leader in UK Public Sector Complex departments like Cabinet Office, MoD, HMRC, DWP, NHS and/or Home Office;
- Experienced in Managing, Delivering in programmes of Critical National Importance, complex transactions and large programmes in UK Central Government;
- Ideally have had experience in working for large consultancies providing client advice;
- Have essential experience in procuring, managing and delivering Government Open Platforms, National Policy Services and desirable to have major ERP portfolio services. As these both align to Mastek’s capability portfolio;
- Possess Advanced Negotiation skills with credible evidence to demonstrate such skills;
- Has credible experience in strategic supplier management;
- Has credible experience in contracts and service evolution in a business transformational context in government;
- Is able to have higher level of UK Security Clearances like SC and NPPV3;
- Possess necessary industry qualifications via MCIPS/CIPS;
- Is effective influencing skills at both Board and Management levels;
- Nurturing high performing and successful culture that collaborate across Mastek’s internal functions like Delivery, Account management, finance, legal and leadership. A colleague who is strong at establishing relationships, experience of working in a global, multi-cultural environment;
- Experienced in managing complex transactions with operational experience working with Government Senior Stakeholders SCS2 and above;

Job Description
Whilst we’ll also learn from successful applicant and craft this together, however this role essentially is to drive the successful development, integration and evolution of Mastek’s UKI&EU commercial function.
In this role, we expect the individual and role to:
- Reports directly to our UKI & Europe President with significant day-to-day emphasis on UK Public Sector;
- A trusted implementer to key Mastek commercial priorities, starting from building a new commercial function and delivery of procurement act 2024;
- Trusted advisor to the UK Board and the where needed the global executive leadership board;
- Develop and execute a comprehensive commercial strategy aligned with the company’s vision and objectives, focusing on business growth, market analysis, client account management and relationship management;
- Outlining the commercial policies for the business, working in collaboration with Sector Heads and the Global Head of Legal;
- Fostering the culture of policy and process compliance within the organisation by creating suitable measures, monitoring processes and arrangements to advocate and implement compliance;
- Build and manage a high performing team of commercial specialists, coaching and developing a wide team of employees by striving towards excellence;
- Building tools and approaches for improved and integrated visibility of data, information and reporting against contracts, their performance, Management Information and Reporting;
- Developing strong and coherent bonds with other internal shareholders;
- Establish and manage strategic partnerships with external key stakeholders in each industry to facilitate the integration of our proprietary;
- Establish strategic partnerships and joint development projects in the relevant market;
- Oversee commercial operations to ensure they are in accordance with the company’s objectives;
- Develop new and/or enhance existing propositions/proposals to customers via campaigns and/or public sector tenders;
- As needed, the role may need to lead and/or support specific client/departmental engagements in capacity of campaigns that enhance customer outcomes and value from engaging with Mastek;
- Flexible to travel within UK with occasional global travel;
This is going to be a new function within Mastek, so in essence a change Programme as well. Bringing colleagues along to “let-go sometimes of their previous ways of working”, with professional confidence, support and advise for making things better, will be critical for success of this role. Implementation of new Procurement Act is also going to be a vital initial activity.
For FY 25/26, additional budget exists for 1 FTE as your direct report for this role, with another 2nd direct report added for 2nd half of the year.
