Job summary

Apollo Vets is seeking a knowledgeable Head Veterinary Nurse to join our team across three sites in England. This senior role leads the nursing team, sets high clinical standards, and drives governance and quality improvement to deliver outstanding patient and client care.

You will oversee the nursing service, mentor staff, manage stock and equipment, and work with the leadership team to shape culture and performance across Black Notley, Maldon, and Dunmow sites.

Qualifications

• Registered Veterinary Nurse with the RCVS
• Proven leadership and mentoring of nursing teams
• Strong clinical governance and quality improvement knowledge
• Excellent communication, organisational and leadership abilities
• Desire to drive standards and service improvements

Responsibilities

• Set and maintain nursing standards across the practice
• Lead clinical governance and quality improvement activity
• Develop and support a capable nursing team across sites
• Coordinate staffing and rota to ensure patient care
• Manage stock levels and equipment maintenance
• Organise training and CPD for the nursing team
• Conduct biannual staff appraisals and performance reviews
• Attend meetings and support practice leadership
• Ensure regulatory compliance and updates to legislation
• Support rota obligations and cover for shortfalls
