Job summary

Arm Cambridge is seeking an experienced Senior Verification Engineer to join the CPU team focused on the next generation of CPU IP. You will build and refine simulation-focused verification environments and influence design and verification decisions across billions of devices.

In this role you will apply modern, simulation-based verification methodologies to address complex problems, improve verification effectiveness, and push CPU verification boundaries.

Qualifications

  • Experience building verification environments for sophisticated RTL designs.
  • Strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Proven grasp of the complete verification process, from test planning to verification closure.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex specifications and translate into verification scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals, including pipelining, exception handling, and memory systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

  • Take ownership for verification in a particular area of the CPU, covering everything from unit-level testbench development to the complete verification approach.
  • Deliver functional verification to agreed quality standards and project schedules.
  • Develop test plans, verification strategies, and coverage goals.
  • Work closely with project leads and management on planning, scheduling, and quality checkpoints.

Job Overview:

This is a great opportunity for an experienced and highly motivated Senior Engineer to join Arm’s CPU team in Cambridge. The role involves working on the next generation of CPU products.

You will build and refine simulation-focused verification environments for future CPU IP, working in close collaboration with design and verification teams. You will be able to affect both design and verification decisions and assist in shaping technology used in billions of devices worldwide.

As CPU designs become increasingly complex, robust and efficient verification is essential to delivering high-quality products. You will apply and evolve modern simulation-based verification methodologies to address complicated problems, improve verification effectiveness, and push the boundaries of CPU verification.

Responsibilities:

We are seeking a Senior Verification Engineer who can contribute throughout all stages of the CPU verification lifecycle. Responsibilities include:

  • Take ownership for verification in a particular area of the CPU, covering everything from unit-level testbench development to the complete verification approach.

  • Develop test plans, verification strategies, and coverage goals.

Required Skills and Experience :
  • Experience building verification environments for sophisticated RTL designs.
  • Strong proficiency in SystemVerilog and scripting languages such as Python, Perl, or Tcl.
  • Proven grasp of the complete verification process, starting from test planning and continuing through to verification closure.
  • Ability to quickly understand complex specifications and translate them into effective verification scenarios.
  • Strong understanding of computer architecture fundamentals, including pipelining, exception handling, and memory systems.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly to a range of audiences.
\"Nice To Have\" Skills and Experience :
  • Solid knowledge of Arm architecture.
  • Experience with verification methodologies such as UVM or equivalent experience.
  • Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
  • Practical experience verifying microprocessor or CPU designs.
  • Understanding of constrained-random stimulus, functional coverage, checking methodologies, and behavioural reference models.
  • Experience conducting detailed technical reviews of verification or design work.
  • Interest in applying AI tools and techniques to improve engineering productivity.
