A leading engineering solutions provider is seeking a Senior Valve Engineer to join their team. This role involves overseeing valve operations both onshore and offshore, leading a team of skilled engineers, and mentoring apprentices. The ideal candidate will possess expert knowledge in their primary valve type and be proficient in at least two additional valve types. This position offers a dynamic and supportive work environment, contributing to projects for leading manufacturers in the industry.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in primary valve types and at least two others.
  • Previous testing experience with 10K Gas testing.
  • Valve-specific training and compliance with standards.

Our Principal Consultant Robin Thomas has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced valve engineer, to join an independent valve specialist that partners with the industry's leading manufacturers.

As a Senior Valve Engineer, you'll be working with a team of highly trained and talented engineers and technicians, and will act as a leader both in the workshop and on site.

The successful candidate must be willing to work both on and offshore, and must also be skilled in at least two other valve types in addition to their expertise in a primary valve.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

  1. Building and fault finding of primary valve types
    Being the focal point within the Operations Team for primary valve type
    Carrying out the majority of rebuilds and modifications to primary valve type work scopes
    Providing expert opinions and solutions to primary valve type issues
    Maintaining the equipment and area that you are designated
  2. Building and assistance of other valve types
    Carrying out the rebuild and modifications to valves that are issued to you by the Production Team Lead
    Providing support to other Senior Valve Engineers when required.
    Continued learning from training and on-the-job experience with other Senior Engineers
  3. Overseeing / Providing Assistance with primary valve activities conducted by other Staff
    Offering technical assistance to Sales, Engineering, and Inspection when required
    Overseeing the rebuild of primary valves by other employees, providing assistance when required to enhance others' skills and knowledge of your primary valve type
    Providing guidance to the Coating department on how to fully protect valves to prevent contaminants affecting your primary valve type
  4. Oversee valve site work both onshore and offshore
    Managing site work scopes from the client's facility, ensuring records and work packs are maintained, and keeping the client informed of progress
    Reporting any issues concerning the scope of work on a client’s site to management immediately
    Leading any scopes where you are the senior engineer, ensuring all paperwork, tasks, and safety responsibilities are carried out professionally by all team members
  5. Development of Apprentices and Lower Tier staff
    Educating and mentoring assigned apprentices, demonstrating correct procedures and work practices
    Providing in-depth knowledge and insights into your primary valve type to Lower Tier staff
    Conducting yourself positively to set a good example for Apprentices and Lower Tier staff
    Supporting morale and providing personal support as needed
    Providing feedback to management on the progress of Apprentices and Lower Tier staff

Skills & Experience

  • Expert knowledge and skill in Primary Valve Type
  • Skilled knowledge and skill in at least two other valve types; basic understanding of all other valve types
  • Previous testing experience with at least 10K Gas testing
  • BOSIET and in-date Medical
  • Effective time management
  • IT Skills: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Filing System; Product knowledge
  • QHSE legal compliance
  • Understanding of ISO standards, calibration procedures
  • FLT Licence
  • Overhead Crane Certificates
  • Supervision Skills
