Job summary

Northern Trains Limited is seeking a Utilities & Commodities Procurement Manager to lead energy procurement strategy and manage the utilities spend across the estate. The role collaborates with suppliers, other train operating companies and the Department for Transport to manage risk and meet financial and sustainability goals.

The role requires experience in utilities procurement, strong contract and project management, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience delivering utilities-related projects.
• Strong commercial and contract management skills.
• Ability to build relationships with suppliers and internal teams.
• Comfort communicating with senior leaders and board level.

Responsibilities

• Take ownership of utilities and commodities portfolio to secure best value.
• Lead tender exercises and evaluate bids to recommend contracts.
• Manage utility contracts within delegated authority and ensure compliance.
• Direct on-site investigations and resolve discrepancies in data and incidents.
• Own utility asset register and feed data into Northern’s Utilities Database.
