Job summary

Netcompany invites an experienced User Research professional to join our UK team in London, applying GDS principles and building user-centered practices across multidisciplinary teams.

You will supervise researchers, advocate for inclusive and accessible services, and employ a broad range of methods to inform strategic decisions. The role offers hybrid working and development opportunities.

Qualifications

  • 4+ years of User Research experience.
  • Experience working to the GDS design principles or equivalent standards in the UK Public sector.
  • Ability to lead and mentor other researchers.
  • Experience with inclusive research and accessibility practices.
  • Proficient with a wide range of primary and secondary user research methods.
  • Ability to analyse and synthesise research data and present findings.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out user research and supervise other researchers to improve research practice.
  • Align user research activities to inform service decisions and strategy.
  • Present research findings to different audiences and stakeholders.
  • Advocate for inclusive research and accessible services for all users.
  • Apply diverse research methods and syntheses to inform delivery and improvements.

Job description

At this level, you will be expected to:
  • Have experience working to the GDS design principals or equivalent standards in the UK Public sector
  • Build user-centred practices in new teams
  • Align user research activities with wider plans to inform a service proposition
  • Carry out user research and supervise and develop other user researchers to assure and improve research practice
  • Inclusive research. You can help teams understand the diversity of users. You can advocate for inclusive practices and help teams design and deliver accessible services that work for all users.
  • Research skills. You have experience of, and can help teams adopt, a wide range of primary and secondary user research methods.
  • Analysis and synthesis. You understand and can help teams apply a range of methods to analyse research data and synthesise findings. You know how to engage sceptical colleagues in analysis and synthesis. You can advise on choice and application of techniques, and can critique colleagues' findings to assure best practice.
  • Presenting research findings. You understand the importance of research to effective delivery and can draw out key findings and implications, summarising and tailoring for different audiences
  • Society and technology. You understand the social and technological context of projects.
  • Strategic insight. You understand what problem the team is trying to solve. You can align user research activities to inform decision making and action.
  • Technical understanding. You know about the technologies used to build and operate digital services.
  • User-centred and agile practices. You understand and have experience of a range of user-centred practices. You can help inexperienced teams adopt user-centred practices and embed them into their agile workflow.
  • 4 years plus User Research experience
  • Have experience working to the GDS design principals or equivalent standards in the UK Public sector
  • Full right to work in the UK
  • Eligible for Security Clearance
  • Work to a Hybrid working model
