Job summary

Are you an experienced nurse or paramedic interested in working in an Urgent Treatment Centre?

We currently have an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and enthusiastic practitioner to work within the Urgent Treatment Centre.

Role overview

The units are nurse and paramedic practitioner led and is operational 7 days a week, from 08:00-20:00.

You will be required to be a clinical expert in direct patient care including the assessment, examination, documentation, prescription, implementation and evaluation of care and appropriate discharge of patients including adults and children, presenting with undifferentiated diagnosis both minor injuries and illness.

Responsibilities

The Senior Urgent Care Practitioner will support the future development of clinical quality by directly supporting the development of staff learning and competencies within the Urgent Care agendas remit as Team Leader.

This will be achieved by providing effective clinical/shift leadership and mentorship whilst working within the Urgent Care environment.

The Senior Urgent Care Practitioner will also be expected to have achieved Non-Medical Prescriber status, or working towards this qualification, along with Level 7 modules as highlighted in the job description.

You will need to engage effectively with patients, peer groups, and service users in all elements of your role, leading by example and promoting a supportive and caring culture.

You must be flexible, enthusiastic, motivated and demonstrate effective interpersonal skills.

DCHS UTCs have a proven education programme and dedicated clinical educators in place to support the completion of studies/portfolio.

Qualifications and experience

Essential

  • Professional registration with NMC or HCPC
  • Minor Injuries Management Qualification
  • V300 Non-Medical Prescriber Level 7 or to complete in 12/24 month
  • Minimum Level 7 Module in physical examination and clinical reasoning
  • Core Principles of Paediatrics in Primary Care and the Acute Sector, or to complete in 12 months

Desirable

  • Teaching qualification

Experience and knowledge

  • Over 2 years post-registration experience
  • Experience of providing clinical leadership
  • Contemporary clinical experience within an urgent care environment or commitment to undertake an agreed capability framework
  • Mentor, appraiser or clinical supervisor
  • Experience of working within an urgent care setting
  • Practical understanding of primary care and community services
