Job summary

University Hospitals of Derby and Burton NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a consultant to provide continuing care and perform clinical duties as outlined in the job plan. The role includes an out of hours general surgical service with consultant colleagues, on-call commitments, and supervision of trainee doctors.

You will contribute to medical audit, governance, education and research, participate in student teaching, and ensure infection control policies are implemented across the Trust.

Responsibilities

• Continuing care and clinical duties as agreed in the job plan with delegations to and teaching of trainees.
• Provision of an out of hours general surgical service with consultant colleagues including on-call commitments.
• Cover for consultant colleagues' annual leave and other authorised absence and supervise trainees.
• Involvement in medical audit, CPD, and participation in postgraduate education activity locally and nationally.
• Participation in medical student teaching programmes and examinations, infection control policy implementation.
