Job summary

Hangar 13 is seeking a Senior Gameplay & Animation Engineer in Brighton (preferred) with strong Unreal Engine experience. You will own development of core gameplay and animation systems, extending code, tools, and pipelines, while collaborating with animators, designers, and programmers to deliver standout gameplay features.

The role emphasizes high code quality, proactive problem solving, and staying ahead of industry techniques.

Qualifications

• Proven programming experience in a creative environment.
• Shipped one or more AAA game titles, ideally using Unreal Engine.
• Advanced proficiency in C++, linear algebra, 3D maths; strong OO design.
• Experience with GAS - the Unreal Gameplay Ability System.
• Familiarity with Unreal Engine, Blueprints and Unreal Animation Principles.
• Dedication to code quality, documentation, and learning new technologies.
• Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
• Effective communicator and collaborator with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Work within Unreal Engine 5 adapting existing systems and building new tech to meet project needs.
• Prototype and code gameplay and animation features.
• Collaborate closely with design, animation, and engineering teams to realise creative ambitions.
• Support planning by estimating and dependency checking feature development.
• Identify risks and propose solutions to keep development on track.
• Research techniques to stay current with game industry advancements.
