Interface Recruitment is seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep UniVerse/UniData/UniBasic experience to modernise a high-volume platform. You will bridge classic U2/Pick engineering with modern delivery via APIs, testing, automation, and observability.

You’ll lead feature delivery, platform improvements, and technical direction across UniVerse/UniData environments while maintaining reliability and scalable architecture.

Qualifications

• Strong commercial software engineering experience (6+ years).
• Proven background in UniVerse/UniData/UniBasic in production environments.
• Ability to own technical direction and balance stability with change.
• Clear communicator able to lead technical discussions.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and support enhancements in UniBasic within UniVerse/UniData environments.
• Drive modernization: refactor legacy routines, reduce tight coupling, clearer module boundaries, reusable services.
• Build and maintain RESTful APIs with proper validation and error handling.
• Strengthen quality through unit and integration testing, test data strategies, automated checks.
• Troubleshoot performance: UniQuery, U2 SQL, indexing, caching, concurrency/locking.
