Job summary

Light & Wonder in Manchester is seeking an experienced Senior Software Engineer to join a multidisciplinary team developing market-leading gaming content for global audiences. You will design and develop high-quality game software using Unity, contribute across the full development lifecycle from concept through to release, and mentor junior engineers while driving engineering excellence.

This role is on-site in Manchester, four days per week, with collaboration across artists, designers,

Qualifications

> Commercial experience delivering software in C++ and Unity-based games.
> Strong knowledge of OO programming and design patterns.
> Experience mentoring other engineers and contributing to engineering culture.
> Full development lifecycle experience from concept to release.

Responsibilities

> Develop high-quality game content using Unity, C++ and C#.
> Design, implement, and maintain game features delivering engaging player experiences.
> Write clean, maintainable code following engineering standards.
> Contribute to technical design discussions and architecture.
> Take ownership of components from design to release.
> Troubleshoot defects and performance issues.
> Optimise performance across multiple projects.
> Collaborate with artists, designers, mathematicians, QA and other developers.
> Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback.
> Mentor junior engineers and support their development.
> Drive continuous improvement in processes and tooling.
> Share knowledge to foster collaboration and high performance.
