We’re Hiring: Senior Underwriting Operations Manager – Lloyd’s Syndicate

Are you a strong internal relationship builder with deep experience in underwriting operations? Our client, a well respected Lloyd’s Syndicate is looking for a Senior Underwriting Operations Manager to join their high-performing Operations team, supporting both their Syndicate and MGA trading platforms.

Department: Operations

Reports to: Deputy Head of Group Operations

Direct Reports: Operations Technician

About the Role

The main purpose of this role is to build and manage effective internal stakeholder relationships across our underwriting, finance, risk, actuarial, and IT functions. You’ll act as a central point of coordination for operational support and portfolio oversight, ensuring alignment, clarity, and delivery of key initiatives and reporting.

This is a highly collaborative role requiring both strategic insight and operational execution in a regulated, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and maintain strong relationships with internal stakeholders to support underwriting operations across Syndicate and MGA platforms.
  • Coordinate portfolio performance oversight in partnership with the CUO, including reporting, controls, and data accuracy.
  • Manage the Syndicate PMD return process and other regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Monitor delegated and non-delegated underwriting performance and implement controls.
  • Support delivery of underwriting risk and audit action plans in coordination with Risk and Compliance.
  • Ensure compliance with Lloyd’s Underwriting Principles, providing evidence and oversight.
  • Deliver operational insight and management information to internal boards, committees, and regulatory bodies.

What You’ll Bring

  • Proven ability to build and manage internal relationships across diverse teams and functions.
  • 5+ years of experience in the Lloyd’s (re)insurance market.
  • Strong technical and analytical skills with an eye for operational improvement.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and BI tools, including Excel and Power BI.
  • Organised, self-motivated, and capable of balancing multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communicator with the confidence to represent Operations at senior levels.
