Job summary

Buckden Partners is seeking a Senior Underwriter to assess and underwrite complex bridging and development loans. You will review proposals, structure deals and ensure alignment with credit policy and risk appetite.

The role collaborates with Relationship Managers and Business Development Managers in a fast-paced, property-focused lending team. The ideal candidate has significant bridging/development finance experience, strong credit judgment and the ability to mentor junior underwriters while

Qualifications

• Significant experience in bridging finance and/or development finance, underwriting or credit risk.
• Strong understanding of short-term property lending and development finance exposure.
• Proven experience underwriting property-backed lending from assessment to approval.
• Strong knowledge of loan structuring, LTV/LTC, valuation, security and exits.

Responsibilities

• Review and assess new lending proposals, financials and docs to determine creditworthiness.
• Prepare and review credit papers with risks and mitigants.
• Make credit decisions within delegated authority and provide recommendations.
• Ensure decisions align with credit policy, risk appetite and standards.
• Structure loans in collaboration with Relationship and Business Development Managers.
• Assess risk factors including LTV, exit strategies, borrower strength and security.
• Identify risk mitigants and conditions precedents for prudent structuring.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to maintain high credit standards.
