What Is the Opportunity?
Travelers seeks a Senior Underwriter to support our renewal book of property and casualty business from an assigned broker panel in the North of England, mainly around Manchester and Leeds. You will support Development Underwriters in producing and writing new business. Using your experience, you'll make sound underwriting decisions, support the Branch in achieving financial goals, and collaborate with teams across regions. The role offers hybrid working arrangements and a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with potential referral bonuses.
What Will You Do?
- Underwrite and assess risk to maximize business growth and profitability.
- Underwrite complex accounts, consider different risk approaches, and negotiate terms.
- Make prompt, sound decisions within authority and support the team with coaching and leadership.
- Maintain accurate documentation and adhere to standards.
- Develop broker and client relationships, participate in meetings, and support business development.
- Provide leadership and coaching to team members.
- Perform file reviews and other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
- Degree preferred.
- Proven underwriting experience, especially in Property and Casualty.
- Knowledge of local insurance market and organizational policies.
- Technical underwriting knowledge, analytical skills, and customer focus.
- Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office; ACII qualification preferred.

- Valid driving license.
