Senior Underwriter - Professional Indemnity

Position Summary

We are looking for a Senior Underwriter to work in our Professional Indemnity team based in Manchester. Under clear leadership and direction, you will develop and generate new business growth, underwriting a broad range of moderate and complex risks within your authority limits. You will utilize underwriting policies, guidelines, rating manual rules, and insurance laws to find creative solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Ensure compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements appropriate to the role.
• Review applications and financial documents to assess risk acceptability.
• Define appropriate pricing based on financial and market analysis.
• Prepare quotations, respond to inquiries, and negotiate with brokers for favorable outcomes.
• Notify brokers of underwriting decisions, rate appeals, and declinations.
• Analyze underwriting data and prepare reports for management.
• Market products, develop broker relationships, and conduct field visits.
• Assist and guide other underwriters and teams, especially on cross-sell opportunities.
• Stay informed on industry regulations and trends, sharing insights with colleagues.
• Utilize CNA systems effectively for daily activities.
• Collaborate with senior staff on complex or high-authority risks.
• Perform additional duties as needed.
