Job summary

The Hartford in the United Kingdom is seeking an International Senior Underwriter I to negotiate, underwrite and develop a profitable Power & Renewables portfolio, delivering outstanding service to brokers and customers while supporting the transition goals.

You will leverage underwriting authority, source new business through London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices, travel as needed, and contribute to pricing models and portfolio reporting with cross-functional teams.

• In-depth knowledge of Power Generation and Renewable Energy.
• Broad London Market broker and client network.
• Ability to build and sustain internal and external relationships.
• Degree educated to support technical knowledge where required.
• Ability to prioritise and organise workload.
• Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
• Team player with capability to work independently.
• Effective communication skills.
• Experience in identifying and implementing improved internal processes.

Responsibilities

• Use underwriting authority to support execution of the Power & Renewables business plan and help set underwriting strategy.
• Source and develop new business opportunities via London Market brokers and Hartford International Offices, travelling overseas when needed.
• Underwrite profitable new opportunities and retain existing clients.
• Collaborate with engineering to analyse risk features, benchmark sectors and industry developments.
• Monitor claims trends and liaise with claims/engineering teams to ensure appropriate settlements.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, Lloyd's regulations and Hartford procedures.
• Assist in systems development for monitoring and reporting exposures.
• Support development of technical pricing models and monthly portfolio reporting.
• Contribute to quarterly/annual underwriting results reporting and participate in committees.
• Mentor junior team members and participate in conferences and client events.
