Senior Underwriter - Marine and Energy (80-100% working degree)

About the Role

Our team is seeking a Senior Underwriter with recognized experience and visibility in the London Market, with a successful track record in underwriting Large and Medium Sized Corporates. As a Senior Marine Underwriter, you will play a key role in shaping our Marine & Energy underwriting portfolio and driving our strategy. Experience with underwriting Composite placements is a plus. Your responsibilities will include:

1. Analyzing and assessing submissions regarding exposures and coverages, and negotiating the best position for Swiss Re.
2. Underwriting treaty reinsurance business across various Marine classes including Cargo, Hull, Liability, Energy, and PVT, including preparing quotations, proposals, wordings, and clauses.
3. Developing strategies to expand current accounts and cross-sell other lines of business.
4. Supporting the Line of Business (LoB) Head with portfolio strategy and initiatives.
5. Sharing technical underwriting expertise through training and governance topics.

The role may require some travel.

London Team: Our broader team is part of Global Specialty, consisting of problem solvers driven by passion and knowledge, with over 200 underwriters across 10+ offices. We cover dedicated Specialty lines in Reinsurance: Agriculture, Aviation, Credit & Surety, Cyber, Engineering, and Marine & Energy.

About You

You should be comfortable leaving your comfort zone and performing under pressure, with initiative and a detail-oriented, goal-driven approach, possessing:

• Minimum 7-10 years of relevant Marine and Energy underwriting experience, including leadership roles and servicing reinsurance programs.
• A strong background in building broker and client relationships.
• Proficiency with underwriting tools and interpreting results.
• The ability to manage multiple deals simultaneously without oversight loss.
• High energy and proactive behavior.
