Key accountabilities
- Be part of a growing and international team, and have a willingness to offer assistance and support to the Liability team, Branch and Home Office colleagues
- Underwrite and trade successfully individual risks in accordance with company strategy, and guidelines within Underwriting Authority
- Develop and maintain a robust pipeline of new business, up-sell and x-sell opportunities.
- Deliver consistently and accurately our customer and broker propositions, including global programme management, and service level agreements and plans.
- Prepare and issue documentation, or where working in collaboration with Wordings Technician(s) review and approve for issue completed documents.
- Continually enhance your knowledge of; underwriting, new trends, regulatory and industry practice.
- Represent the Department and actively participate on internal Branch and Head office sponsored forums, committees and projects.
- Identification and analysis of new business opportunities in the Digital Solutions target segment in relation to new technologies, new products and emerging markets.
- You will stay one step ahead by keeping your finger on the pulse of emerging technologies, new business models, and trends.
Skills & experience
- Liability experience from an Underwriting or Broking background.
- CII qualified or equivalent experience, underwriting, contract law and regulatory experience.
- External industry knowledge to be demonstrated by membership and/or liaison with external professional, industry or commercial bodies.
- Good understanding of insurance and the terminologies used (across all lines of business).
- Good technical understanding about underwriting policy construction; able to read underwriting files and understand what data needs to be recorded
- Developing solutions tailored to the client's individual needs and setting terms and conditions and premium based on risk
- Good decision-making skills; able to consider the costs and benefits of various decisions and choose the appropriate one.
- Excel in a team-oriented environment, collaborating seamlessly with colleagues from diverse backgrounds and forging strong relationships
- Deadline focused; able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines
- Good communication and interpersonal skills; comfortable with phone & face to face discussions with underwriters, brokers & other stakeholders; confident in negotiation and networking scenarios
- Self-motivated, open minded and able to organise own workload effectively to meet service standards
- Ability to travel as required to meet with Customers and Brokers throughout the world.
