Job summary

Allianz Commercial in London seeks a Senior Underwriter – D&O to develop personalised solutions, grow profitable new and renewal business, and manage regional and global elements. You will negotiate terms, pricing, and coverage, while building strong relationships with clients and brokers.

The role requires at least 5 years in D&O underwriting, preferably with international exposure, and a working knowledge of governance frameworks.

Job description

We are looking for an Senior Underwriter – D&O, based in London.

The Impact You Will Have

Based in London and reporting to Head of Commercial D&O, you will work closely with clients and brokers to develop personalised solutions as well as developing new relationships. You will be responsible for underwriting profitable new and renewal business to meet D&O targets regionally including global elements. Your responsibilities also include negotiating participation, pricing and terms & conditions, acquiring new business and retaining existing business.

Some of Your Specific Responsibilities Could Include

• Underwrite in line with D&O governance framework - e.g. Underwriting Authorities, Underwriting Guidelines, Rules and Principles
• Ensure contract certainty is achieved on all accounts at time of inception
• Drive involvement of functional areas in Underwriting process, including Market Management, Risk Consulting, Claims, Operations
• Manage referrals from underwriters and re-underwrite complex business as appropriate
• Contribute to the development and execution of regional Underwriting strategy for D&O
• Create and maintain positive relationships with key producers and clients and other relevant stakeholders (e.g. risk managers)
• Ensure accurate policy documentation is issued to producers (where it is AGCS’ responsibility to do so) or producers has issued documentation (where producer responsibility).

What You’ll Bring To The Role

• You have at least 5 years’ experience as an Underwriter, Broker or relevant equivalent in the D&O sector
• Ideally you are CII qualified or equivalent or working towards it
• You have experience underwriting profitable business in the D&O segment of large corporate international insurance
• You have recognised relationships with clients and brokers at peer group level and are well established within the market
• You have a specialised understanding of international and local D&O insurance markets and competitor landscape
• Capable of leveraging data and analytics to make business more efficient and effective
• You have a good understanding of the legal and regulatory framework
• You can design, develop and implement consistent, robust wordings for contracts.
• A basic understanding of artificial intelligence (AI) and its potential applications in business is essential.
