What Is the Opportunity?

Our Corporate team offers bespoke insurance solutions to large and complex clients in the UK and Ireland. Due to growth, we seek a Senior Underwriter to join any of our UK or Ireland offices. You will engage from early client contact through collaboration with Risk Control, Claims, and other stakeholders in the UK and US. Responsibilities include triaging new business, developing prospects, leading technical underwriting, and managing large renewal accounts. You will also support regional underwriting teams with technical expertise.

Travelers Europe offers a hybrid work model: three days in the office and two days remote, subject to policy changes. This role includes a £2,500 new joiner bonus, with additional referral bonuses possible.

What Will You Do?
  • Serve as an advisory/referral point for responsible product development, ensuring alignment with profit, growth, and retention strategies.
  • Engage actively in key case underwriting and new business development.
  • Mentor and coach underwriting staff to meet standards and profitability goals.
  • Develop broker and client relationships through visibility and disciplined sales approaches.
  • Act as a large case expert internally and externally.
  • Assist in sector strategy development.
  • Promote teamwork to achieve underwriting and sales goals.
  • Maintain collaborative relationships with colleagues across departments.
  • Ensure policies are underwritten and documented in compliance with standards.
  • Leverage broker/client relationships to support business objectives.
  • Provide excellent customer service, responding promptly and knowledgeably.
  • Work strategically with brokers to align with business goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • Strong analytical, judgment, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills.
  • Proven ability in broker planning and engagement.
  • Customer-focused with positive broker interaction skills.
  • Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
  • Advanced relationship management skills.
  • ACII qualification preferred.
