What Is the Opportunity?

Our Corporate team uses their specialist expertise to offer bespoke insurance solutions to our largest and most complex clients in the UK and Ireland. Due to our continued growth, we are looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our team in any of our UK or Ireland offices.

In this role, you will be involved from the early stages of client engagement through close interaction and collaboration with colleagues in Risk Control, Claims, and other stakeholders both in the UK and the US. You’ll be responsible for triaging new business opportunities, developing prospects, leading the technical underwriting of risks, and helping deliver Travelers’ bespoke customer proposition. You’ll manage an allocation of large cross-class renewal accounts and serve as a primary contact for regional underwriting teams, providing technical support for new business and retention with broking partners.

Travelers Europe offers flexibility for hybrid work arrangements, allowing employees to work three days in the office and two days at home, subject to policy changes.

This role is eligible for a £2,500 new joiner bonus, and both you and your referrer may be eligible if referred by a Travelers employee.

What Will You Do?

• Participate as an advisory/referral point to ensure responsible product development aligned with profit, growth, and retention strategies.
• Engage actively in key case underwriting and new business.
• Mentor and coach underwriting staff to meet standards and profitability goals.
• Develop and leverage broker/client relationships through visibility.
• Act as a large case expert internally and externally.
• Assist in sector strategy determination.
• Encourage team achievement of underwriting, sales, and strategic goals.
• Build collaborative relationships across departments.
• Ensure policies are underwritten and documented in compliance with standards.
• Use disciplined sales management to develop broker relationships.
• Demonstrate high customer service standards.
• Interact with customers to meet expectations.
• Work strategically with brokers to align with business goals.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?

• Strong analytical, judgment, decision-making, communication, and teamwork skills.
• Proven broker planning and engagement experience.
• Customer focus and positive broker interaction abilities.
• Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint.
• Relationship management skills.
• ACII qualification preferred.
