Stride Resource Management Ltd is seeking an experienced Senior Underwriter to shape and grow a specialist Commercial Schemes portfolio. You will assess new opportunities, work directly with brokers and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth, and influence portfolio evolution beyond individual underwriting decisions.
This role offers senior exposure without a traditional management path, with strong analytics, onboarding of new schemes, and close partnership with Sales and Operations.
You have built the technical judgement to underwrite complex commercial business, you understand what makes a scheme work, and you know the difference between simply administering a portfolio and actively improving it.
This role gives you the opportunity to operate at that more influential level, helping shape a specialist Commercial Schemes portfolio, assess new opportunities, improve performance and work directly with brokers and internal stakeholders to drive profitable growth.
You will already have a strong commercial underwriting background and enough experience to operate independently with brokers and senior internal stakeholders.
Schemes or affinity experience will be a strong advantage, but this could also suit a commercially minded Senior Underwriter who has worked closely with delegated or portfolio-based business and is ready for broader responsibility.
You will be comfortable looking beyond an individual risk and thinking about performance across an entire portfolio. That means understanding profitability, spotting trends, assessing the quality of new opportunities and knowing when a proposition needs to change.
You will also have strong broker relationships, good commercial instincts and the confidence to influence people across different parts of the business.
You will be joining an established UK commercial insurer with a strong reputation for combining technical underwriting with a genuinely people-focused culture.
The business is particularly well regarded for how it treats its people, with flexibility, wellbeing and long-term development built into the way it operates rather than treated as an add-on.
There is also a strong emphasis on internal progression and professional development, with funded qualifications and opportunities to broaden your career over time.
For somebody who wants senior-level responsibility without sacrificing flexibility or work-life balance, it is a particularly attractive environment.
You will want to understand the scale of the portfolio, the type of schemes involved, how much influence sits with the role and where the strongest growth opportunities are.
We can talk you through that confidentially, including the team structure, the current portfolio and what the business wants this person to help build over the next few years.
