Job description

Purpose Of The Role

Provide UK advisory, reporting, and compliance support to the business and wider tax team. Specifically, act as the UK tax advisory lead on significant group projects (especially treasury tax and restructuring) and own the development of UK cash tax forecasting and deferred tax models.

Job Description

1. Support the Head of UK Direct Tax and Group Tax Reporting, as well as the wider Group Tax team, in delivering group and UK tax reporting to Senior Management.
2. Serve as the designated UK tax technical lead for corporation tax, including treasury tax issues and other major UK tax projects.
3. Prepare tax technical memos on key issues.
4. Handle HMRC enquiries as needed.
5. Prepare UK group CIR, Group relief, and related returns/forms using Alphatax group module.
6. Apply strong UK tax legislation knowledge to support in-house UK tax compliance processes.
7. Prepare UK corporate tax computations in Alphatax for allocated companies.
8. Calculate UK corporate and deferred taxes for statutory accounts, including drafting note disclosures using Alphatax.
9. Calculate UK quarterly tax instalments.
10. Assist with integrating newly acquired UK entities, such as opening tax balances.
11. Maintain and update SAO documentation.
12. Manage UK tax risk.
13. Assist in liquidating entities when necessary.
14. Contribute to ad hoc projects requiring tax input.

Qualifications & Experience

• UK Tax and/or Accountancy qualifications (CTA, ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
• Tax advisory experience, especially related to treasury tax matters.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Proficiency with tax compliance and reporting systems, preferably Alphatax and CCH Tagetik.
• Excellent Excel skills and related modelling experience.
• Ideally IFRS and FRS101 tax accounting experience, including preparing tax provisions for UK statutory accounts, drafting tax notes, checking journals, understanding links between group and local deferred taxes, and reconciling disclosures with auditors.
