Core Responsibilities
  1. To assist the Head of Energy & Construction, UK to execute the strategic direction and business performance of the Energy & Construction portfolio in accordance with the objectives of the company.
  2. The underwriting of Everest Energy & Construction insurance products.
  3. Underwrite in compliance with Everest prescribed underwriting standards.
  4. Refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
  5. Participate in the underwriting peer review process as required.
  6. Monitor and keep abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
  7. Liaise with the Risk Engineering team on loss control and risk selection reviews as and when required.
  8. Maintain awareness of all claims advices while supporting and providing input on claims settlement.
  9. Effective relationship management to initiate opportunities for cross-selling offered products and ensuring account retention.
  10. Ensure all processing and MI is managed to a high standard.
  11. Actively participate in the development & execution of the marketing plan, broker & customer relationships, in a manner consistent with the objectives of the business plan.
  12. Represent Everest at internal and external meetings with brokers, clients and other customers / stakeholders as required.
  13. Business travel as required to support the above objectives, and the appropriate management of T&E expenses.
Desired Skills & Experience
  1. Bachelor’s Degree, or comparable Business Degree.
  2. Demonstrated underwriting ability and technical competence as evidenced by a minimum of 3-5 years of professional experience.
  3. Knowledge across the relevant Energy & Construction products, preferred but not required.
  4. Ability to stay organized in a fast paced and high intensity work environment with the ability to effectively prioritize tasks.
  5. Working collaboratively in a team environment.
  6. Willing to take initiative, function independently and be entrepreneurial with the highest standards of ethics and professionalism.
  7. Strong attention to detail.
  8. Existing relationships with brokers handling business in the targeted segments.
  9. Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong verbal and written communication.
  10. Effective negotiation skills with the ability to find “win/win” solutions.

  12. Judgement / decision making – ability to use logic, rationale and objectivity in decision making.

  15. Market and product knowledge – ability to maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.
  16. Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally.
  17. Industry knowledge - understand insurance industry and specific product portfolios to positively impact the underwriting business by improving personal technical and functional knowledge.
  18. Analytical Skills - visualize, gather information, articulate, analyse and solve complex problems in order to make key business decisions.
