Job summary

Roku is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to contribute to the embedded UI framework, develop tooling, and improve logging and data pipelines across large codebases. You will write C++ in embedded environments, build Python automation, and collaborate with UI, firmware, and CI teams to deliver reliable software for millions of users.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of relevant software development experience.
• Proficiency in modern C++ with embedded or firmware codebases.
• Strong Python experience for building developer tooling and data-processing workflows.
• Experience building JavaScript or TypeScript frameworks or working on JS virtual machines and runtimes.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain tools to improve the quality and consistency of Roku OS logging data.
• Create Python-based automation to extract, analyze, and validate log usage across large codebases.
• Develop offline pipelines for processing logs to support pre-merge validation and automated data contract generation.
• Write and review C++ changes in embedded codebases to ensure accurate and reliable logging.
• Collaborate with system architects to extend UI framework features and improve system stability and performance.
• Use agentic coding to accelerate feature development and testing.
• Partner with UI infrastructure, firmware, and CI teams to integrate tooling into developer workflows.
• Troubleshoot issues across pipelines and instrumentation, balancing scalability with maintainability.
• Develop tools that support the larger development community within Roku.
