Senior Transport Planner

Location: Portsmouth

Shift Pattern/ Hours: 09:00 am to 17:00 pm

Salary: £21.53 per hour

The role: As a Senior Transport Planner in The Transport Planning Team, you will be responsible for the provision of expert advice on transport and air quality issues, particularly around electric vehicle charging infrastructure. You will be involved in the development of policy and strategy and delivering transport-based solutions to address air pollution in the city. You will engage and consult with members, community groups, and on air quality and transport planning issues, addressing varied and complex queries/issues raised.

What you will be responsible for:
  1. Developing future phases of projects to improve air quality through electric vehicle infrastructure;
  2. Project managing electric vehicle infrastructure projects from conception through to installation;
  3. Supporting the delivery and monitoring of the Local Transport Plan and developing any related transport strategies;
  4. Presentation and development of briefing notes for relevant Committee Meetings, Boards, and external meetings;
  5. In conjunction with the Transport Strategy Team Leader, developing the strategic transport planning and policy framework for delivering electric vehicle infrastructure in the city;
  6. Close liaison with partner organisations;
  7. Managing, writing, and submitting a range of funding bids for electric vehicle infrastructure projects and programmes, coordinating input from staff across the organisation;
  8. Thinking in innovative ways to develop strategies.
Requirements:
  1. Experience in electric vehicle charge point scheme development and delivery;
  2. Experience in the procurement process;
  3. Experience of dealing with financial and budget management;
  4. Proven ability to represent the service with direction at highly challenging internal/external meetings, with integrity and confidence;
  5. Experience of project management in transport/highways.
