Senior Transport Planner / Engineer London Office

Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Senior Transport Planner / Engineer to join their expanding London team. The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering a diverse range of transport planning projects, including Transport Assessments, Travel Plans, and input into masterplanning and urban regeneration schemes. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and versatile individual to contribute to high-profile developments while furthering their career within a supportive and fast-paced environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in the transport planning profession, excellent technical skills, and a desire to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams. You ll be given responsibility from the outset and encouraged to take ownership of your work, contribute to business development, and mentor junior staff as part of your career growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare Transport Assessments, Feasibility Studies, and Travel Plans

  • Support and mentor junior staff in data analysis, report writing, and design

  • Produce figures, drawings, and indicative design layouts (AutoCAD, GIS preferred)

  • Engage with junction modelling tools and spreadsheet analysis

  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, architects, and other professionals

  • Assist in technical delivery of projects, including trip generation, capacity modelling, and strategy development

  • Contribute to business development and client relationship management

  • Maintain compliance with health and safety standards

  • Provide flexible support across projects and occasionally work outside regular hours to meet deadlines

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Transport Planning, Engineering, Geography, Town Planning, or other numerate discipline

  • MSc in Transport Planning/Engineering preferred

Skills & Experience:

  • Demonstrated experience in Transport Assessments, Statements, and Travel Plans

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Strong numeracy, analysis, and report writing abilities

  • Ability to manage deadlines independently and within teams

  • Familiarity with planning and transport policies, standards, and frameworks

  • Experience with tools such as TRICS, LinSig, TEMPro, AutoCAD, GIS, Autotrack, etc.

  • Understanding of junction/highway design at concept level
