Overview

Stantec has a market leading Transport Planning team in Scotland and we are currently seeking an enthusiastic Senior Transport Planner to join us, working in our Edinburgh or Glasgow offices. Our team works with excellent clients on some of the UK’s most exciting transport projects, including major transit projects in Scotland’s largest cities. Our public sector client-focused and results-driven approach has enhanced our reputation as one of the leading transport planning consultancies in the UK. The team has grown significantly in recent years, with over 30 Transport Planners based in Scotland, and we are now looking to further strengthen and grow our offering.

You will provide support in the development and delivery of a range of high-profile sustainable transport projects, including major scheme appraisals, business cases, local and regional strategies, and monitoring & evaluation studies. You will interact with and be a key point of contact with clients.

Responsibilities
  • You will communicate and work collaboratively within project teams to provide high-quality deliverables to Stantec’s clients and ensure that all documentation adheres to client and company standards and expectations.
  • You will mentor, guide, manage and provide technical advice to junior employees.
  • You will have the opportunity for career progression and personal development through the delivery of high-quality services to influential clients.
About You
  • You will be highly numerate with good report writing skills and be an excellent communicator capable of engaging with teams, clients and stakeholders.
  • You will have experience supporting public sector clients in areas such as transport planning, transport appraisal, transport business cases and stakeholder engagement to develop a strong evidence base for transport investment decisions. Experience across a range of modes, including public transport and active travel, is preferred.
  • You will have a broad understanding of current transport trends and challenges in Scotland and the rest of the UK.
  • You will have the ability to work effectively individually or as part of a project team.
  • Ideally, you will have some experience managing or mentoring junior staff.
  • You will likely be working towards the Chartered Transport Planning Professional qualification – and we will support you in gaining the qualification.
  • Your passion for developing transport solutions and delivering a first-class service to clients will be critical to your success in this role.
