Job summary

Vincere in Woolpit, Suffolk, is seeking a Senior Transport Operator to support the Distribution Operations Manager with day-to-day leadership of a busy pallet distribution operation (£3.5m+ annual sales). You will coordinate service delivery for 25+ customers, manage a team of 7 staff and 36 LGV drivers, and ensure KPIs and service levels are met while keeping costs in check and maintaining safety.

The role requires 2+ years in a similar role, knowledge of transport distribution, CPC/Business

Qualifications

• 2+ years in a similar role.
• Proven track record in commercial operations.
• Knowledge of transport distribution desirable.
• Business Management and/or CPC qualification desirable.
• Good people skills and a solid team player.
• IT literate (MS Office, Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Support the Distribution Operations Manager with absence/performance issues, training, and day-to-day cover.
• Manage driver/customer queries, brief/debrief drivers, and elevate key feedback.
• Provide first-line support for delivery issues, breakdowns, and incidents.
• Manage own-fleet/subcontractor relationships and resources.
• Ensure compliance with WTD and driver regulations.

Senior Transport Operator

Location: Woolpit, Suffolk Monday to Friday: 08:00–17:00 Start Date: Immediate start

About the Role: Support the Distribution Operations Manager with day-to-

day leadership of a busy pallet distribution operation (£3.5m+ annual sales).

Help coordinate service delivery across 25+ customers, ensuring KPIs and service levels are consistently met.

Support the management of a team of 7 staff and 36 LGV drivers to keep operations running efficiently and safely.

Ensure customer requirements are consistently met. Maximise revenue and sales per customer. Manage operating costs, including traffic office and depot

overheads. Provide day-to-day support to drivers and act as their first

point of contact.

You’ll need: 2+ years' experience in a similar role Proven track record in commercial operations Knowledge of transport distribution desirable Business Management and/or CPC qualification desirable Good people skills and a solid team player Excellent attention to detail IT literate (MS, Office, Outlook)
